NARRATING THE TERRITORY
In the fall of 2019, the group of La Casa Tomada from Casa de las Américas, one of the main Latin American cultural institutions based in Havana (Cuba), invited us to participate in the 3rd Casa Tomada workshop called Land and territory of thought and young creation in the Americas. For several days we toured the entire Caribbean island visiting Santa Clara, Camagüey, Holguín, Gibara, Baracoa, Cajobabo and Santiago de Cuba with a group of Ibero‐American artists from various disciplines (music, theatre, independent publishing, etcetera). In each of these places of the Cuban map many activities were carried out with local communities. Through SOM Editorial Colectiva we held a collective writing workshop at the Public Library in Gibara with Primary students and another one at Salvador Pascual Pre‐University Center in Baracoa. In both cases the young participants related physical spaces in their places of origin with characters from the local cosmogony and/or from their daily family life. Claudia Novelo Alpuche, coordinator of La Península, coordinated the audiovisual accompaniment.
