CLIMBING THE SKY

In August 2021 we developed a puppet show (Escalando el Cielo) that was inspired in the Mediterranean writer Ramon Llull, who wrote hundreds of books during the Middle Age. He is the father of the Catalan Literature. In the play, Ramon Llull meets some characters that help him in his spiritual growth, that finally crystallizes in the writing of a book. The author used the same characters in his theory of the Ladder of knowledge. It represented for him the path of the enlightenment, the self‐knowledge and the expansion of consciousness. Rebeca Ruiz Guerrero wrote the text of the play and she also directed the staging and played various characters with Carlos Caballero Ortega, who designed Ramon Llull’s puppet. The rest of the puppets as well as the portable theater where designed and produced by Laura Zubieta Rodríguez. We visited seven communities located in the urban periphery of Mérida and there was also a performance at Manuel Cepeda Peraza Library in Mérida. The Town Council of Caldes de Montbui (Barcelona), through its Cooperation and Solidarity Fund, supported the production and the execution of this project.
