COLLECTIVE STORIES FOR PEACE
At the beginning of 2018 and after having participated in the Travesías training program for youth organizations organized by the International Youth Organization for Ibero‐America (OIJ), we carried out an exchange with the Costa Rican educational project Carretica cuentera. Together we designed the methodology of Collective Stories for Peace, which joins the narrative and community experience of both associations. This methodology was implemented in San José (Costa Rica) and in Mérida (México). In both cities, collective writing adventures were held with several groups of young people with the purpose to write stories that narratively could rethink dialogue, forgiveness, empathy and the peaceful resolution of common urban conflicts. The methodology proposes a participatory Literature that can help us to solve problems that occur in the urban day‐to‐day life and also to heal personal problems related to the hectic city life. The act of writing the resolution of a conflict allows us to narrate its possibility and to highlight its importance, testing it through a fictional story to apply it finally and in an effective way in the reality.
